Colorado
The Chaffee County Community Foundation in Buena Vista has announced that an anonymous donor is offering a 2:1 match for every gift made in support of CCCF’s catalyst fund in July, up to $25,000. The fund provides direct support for the foundation’s efforts to create solutions to local challenges and ensure that it has resources to respond to a crisis and build nonprofit capacity.
Connecticut
The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut in New London has announced grants totaling more than $2 million in support of youth empowerment, human rights, the environment, and animal welfare. Recipients include the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center, Connecticut College, the Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund, and the Hispanic Alliance of Southeastern Connecticut.
Georgia
The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta (CFGA) has announced that HouseATL, for which the foundation serves as fiscal sponsor, has named nonprofit veteran Natallie Keiser as its executive director. She previously served as senior associate for community economic development and neighborhood transformation at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, where she spearheaded its community development strategy in Atlanta and applied a racial equity lens to issues such as affordable housing and commercial development. In addition, CFGA has appointed Josh Dukelow as a gift planning officer and Andrea Lawyer as controller.
Illinois
The Highland Park Community Foundation has announced the creation of a July 4th Highland Park Shooting Response Fund to help those directly affected by the mass shooting there during an Independence Day parade. All contributions to the fund will go directly to victims and survivors or the organizations that support them.
Indiana
The Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Indiana Community Foundation, has announced the 31 recipients of the first round of funding from the Elevation Grant Program. Grants totaling $4,318,539 will go toward projects focused on thriving neighborhoods, empowering youth, and restoration and resilience through mental wellness. The latest recipients include Centers of Wellness for Urban Women, the Bloom Project, Girl Talk, and Flanner House of Indianapolis. Previously known as the Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program, the Elevation Grant Program will invest $45 million in neighborhoods over the next three years to address root causes of violent crime in Indianapolis.
New Jersey
The Community Foundation of South Jersey’s (CFSJ) South Jersey COVID-19 Response Fund has awarded a $3,000 grant to the Gleneayre Equestrian Program (GEP), which assists at-risk youth. When the pandemic caused GEP to suspend operations, it received financial support from the fund to address blacksmith costs, horse health, and wellness expenses, including those of older horses who have specific, sometimes costly, needs. The latest funding will help the organization redevelop its programs.
New York
The Rochester Area Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $214,000 to 10 local youth sports and recreation programs from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Fund for Youth Sports. Grants ranging from $8,359 to $25,000 were awarded to groups in Monroe, Ontario, Wayne, and Yates counties, including the Center for Disability Rights, Garth Fagan Dance, Roc E6, and Yates Cultural and Recreational Resources.
Ohio
The Greater Cincinnati Foundation has announced the promotion of Felicity Tao to vice president, marketing and integration. In addition to overseeing the foundation’s branding, marketing, and communications strategies, Tao will work to help integrate all major functions of the organization, develop and implement systems and processes to streamline operations, and manage day-to-day cross functional collaboration.
Rhode Island
The Rhode Island Foundation has announced the relaunch of its Together RI initiative, which is designed to get everyday Rhode Islanders talking and listening to each other over a free meal. Together RI will kick off July 14 in North Providence at Lancellotta’s Banquet Restaurant, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Eleven additional community get-togethers are scheduled through November 15.
