					Arizona
The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona has announced the retirement of Paula Van Ness, founding director for the foundation’s Center for Healthy Nonprofits, at the end of this year. Rose Snyder, the center’s current learning and development manager, has been named as the its next director.
California
The San Diego Foundation has released its annual report announcing that it awarded grants totaling $114.5 million to 2,313 recipients in fiscal year 2023-24. Awards included $94 million in direct support of San Diego County nonprofits and $4.9 million in scholarships to 1,200 local students.
The Orange County Community Foundation has released its annual report announcing that it awarded grants and scholarships totaling over $86 million in fiscal year 2024. The foundation manages $700 million in charitable assets through 650 funds and has distributed $1.1 billion since 1989.
Colorado
The Community Foundation of Northern Colorado in Fort Collins has announced awards totaling $12.2 million in the fiscal year ending July 2024. Grants were directed to 568 recipients with 27 nonprofits receiving over $100,000. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Larimer County, Homeward Alliance, and Realities for Children each received over $250,000.
Florida
The Community Foundation of Sarasota County has awarded $25,000 to Choral Artists of Sarasota with support from the foundation’s Huisking Family, McCauley-Brown, and John J. Weiss Memorial funds. The grant will support the group’s stage production of the musical Considering Matthew Shepard.
Illinois
The Moline Regional Community Foundation has awarded $355,000 to 33 local nonprofits. The Arc of the Quad Cities Area received the largest grant, $35,000, for its workforce development program. The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, Alternatives for the Older Adult, and Bethany for Children & Families each received $25,000.
Indiana
The Starke County Community Foundation, part of the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, has announced a $35,000 gift from Jerry Scherf that has been matched two-for-one by the Lilly Endowment for a total impact of $105,000. The gift is part of a campaign to raise $350,000—to be matched by Lilly—for local community projects.
Iowa
The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa has announced three grants totaling $300,000. The Surf Ballroom and the Waterloo Economic Mobility Hub received $50,000 each and the Northeast Iowa Food Bank received $200,000, which included a $100,000 matching grant from the foundation’s Gary and Becky Bertch Family Fund.
Nebraska
The Oregon Trail Community Foundation in Scottsbluff has awarded $12,722 to the Scottsbluff Robotics Club to help fund technology and equipment needs for the group, which hosts five teams—four Lego League teams, ages 9 to 14, and one First Tech Challenge team, ages 12 to 18—involving 42 youth and nine coaches across Scotts Bluff County.
New York
The Glens Falls Foundation has awarded three grants totaling $42,975 through the Granville Community Foundation Fund. Recipients include Granville Engine and Hose Co., North Granville Hose Co., and Haynes House of Hope.
Ohio
The Middletown Community Foundation has announced its 2024 community award recipients. Avinne Kiser received the Mary C. Maurer Volunteer of the Year Award. Sam Ashworth received the Mary Jane Palmer-Nunlist “I Love Middletown” Award. And Dan and Frances Sack received the Roland P. Ely Jr. President’s Award.
Vermont
The Vermont Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $102,842 through its Northeast Kingdom Fund to 23 nonprofits and municipalities in Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties.
