The Allen Institute for AI (AI2) has announced that its founding CEO, OREN ETZIONI, will step down after nearly nine years with the organization. Etzioni will continue to serve as CEO until September 30, when he will take the position of technical director of the AI2 Incubator. He remains a board member and advisor of AI2.

The Burton D. Morgan Foundation in Hudson, Ohio, has announced the appointment of DANIEL HAMPU as president and CEO. He succeeds DEBORAH HOOVER, who has served in the leadership role since 2007. Hampu most recently served as director of investing and venture capital startup advisor for the Akron-based Bounce Innovation Hub, which was launched in 2018 to serve northeast Ohio’s entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses.

The Carnegie Corporation of New York has announced the appointment of ambassador EDWARD P. DJEREJIAN to the foundation’s board for a four-year term. A former trustee of the corporation, he previously served as vice chairman (2011–19). Djerejian is the only American to ever serve as U.S. ambassador to both Israel and Syria. In addition, the corporation announced that CAROLINE KENNEDY has resigned from the board, having served as a trustee since 2018. Kennedy relinquished the post earlier this year after being confirmed by the Senate as U.S. ambassador to Australia.

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (DDCF) has announced the appointment of JOOYEUN CHANG as the director of the foundation’s Child Well-being program. Chang most recently served as acting assistant secretary and principal deputy assistant secretary for the Administration for Children and Families of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The Ford Foundation has announced the election of CATALINA DEVANDAS AGUILAR to its board of trustees. Devandas Aguilar serves as permanent representative of Costa Rica to the United Nations at Geneva and has worked extensively on disability inclusion, having served most recently as the first United Nations special rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities. 

The Henry Luce Foundation has announced that TERRY ADAMSON and DEBRA KNOPMAN will serve as co-chairs for the next five years. The pair were elected to fill the role following the decision of MARGARET BOLES FITZGERALD to step down as chair after 20 years of leadership. Adamson and Knopman are both alumni of the Luce Scholars program and long-serving members of the board.

The Kresge Foundation in Troy, Michigan, has announced that education program managing director BILL MOSES has been appointed to President Joe Biden’s board of advisors on historically Black colleges and universities. In that role, he will help leaders in Washington, D.C., determine how to best serve and support the institutions. 

The Meyer Memorial Trust in Portland, Oregon, has announced that HELEN WONG will join the team as director of grantmaking. Wong was a founding member of the Global Fund to End Modern Slavery and served as its senior director of grant programs. In addition, RUKAIYAH ADAMS is leaving the foundation, effective August 31, after serving eight years as its chief investment officer. 

The Terra Foundation for American Art in Chicago has announced TURRY M. FLUCKER as its vice president of collections and partnerships, effective August 1. In the newly created position, Flucker will oversee the foundation’s 750-object American collection with the goal of sharing expansive narratives of American art locally and globally, and fostering collaborative, interdisciplinary partnerships throughout the field. Flucker, who currently serves as director and curator of Tougaloo College Art Collections in Tougaloo, Mississippi, brings nearly 30 years of experience to the position.

Breakthrough Collaborative, which works to improve equity in education and support underrepresented students so they can succeed after college, has announced that VINCE MARIGNA has been named CEO, effective July 18. He will succeed ELISSA VANAVER, who announced her retirement last fall; she has served as national CEO since 2017.

The Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP), an institution of the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS)—has announced the appointment of TAMARA EL-KHOURY as director, following a national search. For the past year, MAHA FREIJ, CAAP’s founder and previous director, has served as ACCESS president and CEO.

The Global Fund for Children has appointed OTIS KOLLIE as a program specialist for Africa and Asia. Kollie will help both regional teams with grantmaking as well as utilizing data and research for learning. Based in Liberia, Kollie has more than eight years of experience in project and program management.

Jewish Federations of North America has announced elected JULIE PLATT as chair of its board of trustees. The second woman in the history of the Jewish Federations to serve as board chair, Platt succeeds MARK WILF, who has been nominated as chair of the board of governors for the Jewish Agency for Israel

MoMA PS1 director KATE FOWLE has unexpectedly announced that she was stepping down, effective July 15, the New York Times reports. Fowle became director in 2019. 

The Wikimedia Foundation has announced the appointment of SELENA DECKELMANN as chief product and technology officer, effective August 1. Deckelmann is currently senior vice president of Mozilla, where she was responsible for Firefox.
