The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) has announced its founding scientific team of the Chan Zuckerberg Institute for Advanced Biological Imaging (CZ Imaging Institute). Led by founding scientific director DAVID AGARD, the CZ Imaging Institute will include technical directors BRIDGET CARRAGHER and CLINT POTTER.
The Ford Foundation has announced that housing and community development expert SHAUN DONOVAN will serve as a senior fellow. Over the next year, Donovan will focus on creating an initial set of tools and laying the foundation for long-term investments that will ensure that funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act has a greater, more equitable impact and reaches historically disadvantaged communities that are often left behind.
The Kenneth Rainin Foundation in Oakland, California, has announced that director of grants management MIYESHA PERRY was elected to a two-year term as the board co-chair of PEAK Grantmaking, where she has served on the board since June 2020. In addition, the foundation appointed PAMELA MATTERA as its first arts program fellow; she will work to help artists thrive and lead systemic change toward a more resilient and equitable ecosystem.
The McKnight Foundation in Minneapolis has announced the addition of two program officers to its Arts & Culture team starting in August. BAO PHI, who worked as an arts administrator for more than two decades at the Loft Literary Center, will develop and maintain relationships with grantee partners and intermediary funders, manage significant grant portfolios, and actively collaborate with McKnight programs. CAROLINE TAIWO, who previously served as director of economic opportunity at Springboard for the Arts, also will develop and maintain relationships with grantee partners and intermediary funders.
The Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) has announced that MICHAEL G. JOHNSON has been appointed president and CEO, effective August 1. For more than 25 years, Johnson has served in leadership positions in economic development, corporate philanthropy, and public administration organizations.
The V Foundation for Cancer Research in Cary, North Carolina, has appointed MARY ELLEN CURRAN as the vice president of business and sports partnerships. Curran will oversee the foundation’s partnerships division and be responsible for developing a strategic platform that helps secure additional corporate and sports partnerships, grow existing collaborations, and increase the foundation’s impact.
