The Foundation for Child Development in New York City has announced that VIVIAN TSENG will succeed outgoing president and CEO JACQUELINE JONES. Since 2017, Tseng has served as senior vice president of programs at the William T. Grant Foundation, where she began as a postdoctoral fellow. She also is a co-founder of the Transforming Evidence Funders Network, which brings together 35 public and private funders to advance evidence-informed decision making globally across policy sectors, and founder of Using Evidence for Change, a learning community of 18 philanthropic organizations that uses evidence to support equity for children and youth in the United States.
The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation in Morristown, New Jersey, has announced the addition of JANNA OBERDORF as director of communications. Oberdorf has two decades of experience in communications and journalism, including 15 years working in the social sector, with a focus on gender and racial equity.
The Open Society Foundations has announced the appointment of CATHY LIVINGSTON, a leader in the field of tax policy and nonprofit law, as general counsel, effective September 6. Livingston will be based in Washington, D.C. and joins Open Society with more than 30 years of experience in government and private practice.
The Surdna Foundation has announced that ALISON CORWIN is leaving to take on a new role with a spend-down foundation focused on climate. For nearly a decade, Corwin has been part of Surdna’s Sustainable Environments program, joining in 2013 as a program officer and later serving as a senior program officer until April 2021, when she stepped into the role of interim co-director, before becoming program director in November.
The William T. Grant Foundation has announced the return of KIMBERLY A. DUMONT in the role of senior vice president of program, effective October 1. Between 2011 to 2020, Dumont served as a program officer and senior program officer, and she developed, designed, and implemented the foundation's Institutional Challenge Grant.
AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles has announced that Giving Pledger MELANIE LUNDQUIST has joined its board of trustees and GERALDINE KNATZ, former executive director of the Port of Los Angeles and AltaSea board member since 2018, will serve as board chair.
The Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) has announced the appointment of IVAN ROSALES as chief financial and operating officer. Before joining CLF, Rosales was the head of finance and operations at North Star Fund, a social justice fund that supports grassroots organizing led by communities of color building power in New York City and the Hudson Valley.
The Episcopal Health Foundation in Houston, Texas, has announced ANN BARNES as its president and CEO, effective October 3. Barnes is currently the chief health officer and senior vice president for Harris Health System in Houston.
The Funder’s Collaborative on Youth Organizing (FCYO) has announced that co-executive director ERIC BRAXTON will be transitioning into the role of senior advisor. MÓNICA CÓRDOVA will serve as executive director. Braxton was with FCYO for 20 years and served as co-executive director with Cordova for two years.
The Giving USA Foundation has announced the election of JOSH BIRKHOLZ to a two-year term as board chair. Birkholz, who has spent more than 25 years in the public sector, is the CEO of BWF, an international fundraising company providing consulting, services, and technology to leading nonprofits, universities, and healthcare institutions.
The Israel Tennis and Education Centers Foundation (ITEC) has announced KARIN J. BUCHHOLZ as global executive director. Buchholz will work closely with the organization’s global board of directors and professional staff in North America and Israel to implement best-in-class fund development strategies, strengthen community outreach, and enhance donor engagement.
The United Way Miami has announced the appointment of PENNY SHAFFER as board chair for the next two years. She succeeds ROBERT E. SANCHEZ, chair and CEO of Ryder System, Inc., who concluded his three-year term as chair.
In addition, PND notes the passing of Jonas Philanthropies founder DONALD JONAS, at 92. Jonas and his wife Barbara created the organization in 2006, combining professional expertise and philanthropic passion to address a growing crisis in the nation’s healthcare system.
