Colorado
The Denver Foundation has announced a grant of $300,000 over two years from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to help identify and acknowledge the philanthropic contributions of people of color, including gifts of time, talent, treasure, and testimony.
Illinois
The Blue Island Intercollegiate Rowing Center and Marina has announced a grant from the Chicago Community Trust in support of a study that will examine how the center and marina can best enhance the Millennium Reserve Initiative, a state-funded project to stimulate economic growth, restore natural ecosystems, and support healthy communities on the Illinois side of the Calumet area. The Cal-Sag Channel (short for the Calumet-Saganashkee Channel) has long served as a site of rowing competitions.
Massachusetts
The Boston Foundation has announced grants totaling $60,000 to ten area nonprofits from the Vision Fund, which awards up to $7,500 in support of programs with budget support of no more than $15,000. Recipients include the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts, Write Boston, the Record Company, and Casa Myma Vasquez.
The Essex County Community Foundation in Danvers has announced that twenty-two donor-advised funds were established during its 2013-14 fiscal year, increasing its assets under management to nearly $26 million. New DAFs include the Farnsworth Fund, which focuses on the environment; the One Run for Boston; the Peter Watson Memorial Scholarship, and the Centerville Improvement Society.
Mississippi
The Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation in Hattiesburg has announced two grants of $10,000 through the Ann Morris Memorial Fund to the Arc of Southeast Mississippi in support of the organization's Rise and Shine and Sunsetters not Sunsitters programs, which helps provide adults with disabilities access to recreational and social activities. The Morris Memorial Fund was established to enrich the quality of life for adults with mental and physical challenges.
Ohio
The Shelby Foundation has announced the creation of a donor-advised fund that will provide support for organizations in need of financial assistance to implement or expand programs that benefit or improve the lives of children.
Pennsylvania
The Erie Community Foundation has announced that support from local businesses has helped boost the pro-rated match pool for Erie Gives to $200,000. In addition to funds from the foundation and GE Transportation, Erie Insurance and Presque Isle Downs and Casino each donated $25,000.
Washington
The Seattle Foundation has announced grants totaling $370,000 to twelve organizations working to connect youth to nature. Awarded through its GiveTogether fund, the grants include $40,000 to the Cascade Bicycle Club, $25,000 to Red Eagle Soaring, and $10,000 to the Nature Consortium.
